【摘要】：華人在美生活最早可以追溯到19世紀(jì)40年代末。那時(shí)的中國(guó)移民來到美國(guó)的主要目的是淘金或是尋找賺錢的機(jī)會(huì)。對(duì)于這些中國(guó)移民來說，美國(guó)夢(mèng)等同于黃金夢(mèng)或者說是金錢夢(mèng)。他們的最終目標(biāo)是賺足錢后返回中國(guó)而不是定居美國(guó)。這些早期移民多數(shù)是下層勞工。工資低，社會(huì)地位低，同時(shí)還受到不平等對(duì)待。與此形成鮮明對(duì)比的是現(xiàn)在的美籍華人，他們所追求的美國(guó)夢(mèng)相比于早期移民的對(duì)金錢的實(shí)際追求來說更加的美國(guó)化和多樣化。這些華人所追求的美國(guó)夢(mèng)包含了對(duì)家庭，社會(huì)地位，經(jīng)濟(jì)狀況以及民權(quán)的要求，，不再是簡(jiǎn)單意義上的以金錢為主的美國(guó)夢(mèng)。 本文的研究主旨是美籍華人的美國(guó)夢(mèng)。通過對(duì)書籍中及前人研究中美籍華人職業(yè)選擇的改變，家庭組成的變化，居住地的多樣化，社會(huì)及經(jīng)濟(jì)地位的提高以及政治參與度的加深，清晰地展示了美籍華人追求的美國(guó)夢(mèng)的改變。同時(shí)，通過應(yīng)用社會(huì)分層理論，文章給出了華人對(duì)美國(guó)夢(mèng)不懈追求的原因。 作為中國(guó)移民的首選，美國(guó)夢(mèng)依舊是中國(guó)人移民美國(guó)的重要原因之一。通過對(duì)美籍華人追尋美國(guó)夢(mèng)的類型和原因的論述，也為新移民提供一個(gè)深入了解美國(guó)以及美國(guó)夢(mèng)的機(jī)會(huì)。
