Transforming the “Teacher”,Governing the “Adolescent”

【摘要】:The purpose of this paper is to investigate the particular standards and expectations for which the teacher should be and the role action they actually play in governing the"development"of the adolescent into a citizen. By analyzing the social and political construction of both teacher and the adolescent,this paper show show the identities of both teacher and the adolescent are transformed in different historical,social,and political contexts in China. The teacher identity is transformed from "saint","clerk"to "devil",etc. At the same time,the adolescent identity has been characterized as"follower","worker","soldier",etc.On this basis,this paper focuses on how the teacher identity is constructed as"agent"and how the adolescent are governed as"self- responsibility competitors"in the contemporary era.
