【摘要】：My Country and My People是我國(guó)著名國(guó)學(xué)大師林語(yǔ)堂代表作之一。本文以勒弗菲爾(Lefevere)提出的“操縱”(manipulation)理論為框架,從社會(huì)文化角度比較了My Country and My People的兩個(gè)中譯本：20世紀(jì)30年代的黃嘉德譯本與80年代的郝志東等的譯本。比較的目的在于揭示不同社會(huì)文化背景下的意識(shí)形態(tài)、詩(shī)學(xué)以及贊助人三因素是如何作用于譯者的翻譯實(shí)踐,并影響其行為的。 勒弗菲爾是翻譯研究學(xué)派的主要代表人物之一,他將翻譯活動(dòng)歸入文化系統(tǒng)并進(jìn)行研究,討論了意識(shí)形態(tài)、詩(shī)學(xué)及贊助人對(duì)譯者翻譯文本和翻譯策略的選擇所產(chǎn)生的影響,提出翻譯即改寫(xiě)這一論斷。不同的時(shí)代,不同的譯者,不同的文化環(huán)境和歷史背景,便有不同的意識(shí)形態(tài)傾向,受不同的主流詩(shī)學(xué)和贊助人的制約。譯者總是在意識(shí)形態(tài)、詩(shī)學(xué)傳統(tǒng)和贊助人的操縱下使譯本盡可能被更多的目的語(yǔ)讀者接受。 本文在操縱理論的指導(dǎo)下,通過(guò)比較上述兩個(gè)中文譯本,指出不同的歷史環(huán)境、意識(shí)形態(tài)、贊助人、主流詩(shī)學(xué)會(huì)影響到譯者的翻譯行為和翻譯策略,并進(jìn)一步影響到譯文,因此不同時(shí)代的譯者,他們?cè)谡Z(yǔ)言表達(dá)方面存在著很大的差異。本文從語(yǔ)言、風(fēng)格和文化等方面對(duì)兩個(gè)譯本進(jìn)行了對(duì)比研究,共分五章。 第一章是引言,介紹了本文的研究目的,研究方法,研究意義以及文章結(jié)構(gòu)。 第二章探討了操縱理論的由來(lái),并對(duì)其意識(shí)形態(tài)、詩(shī)學(xué)以及贊助人作了簡(jiǎn)單介紹。 第三章對(duì)林語(yǔ)堂、My Country and My People的內(nèi)容以及所選擇的兩個(gè)中文譯本進(jìn)行了介紹。 第四章對(duì)兩譯本進(jìn)行評(píng)析,涉及到措詞、風(fēng)格、句子結(jié)構(gòu)等方面的比較,分別從意識(shí)形態(tài)、贊助人、主流詩(shī)學(xué)等方面闡述了影響,然后對(duì)兩本譯本的質(zhì)量做了簡(jiǎn)單評(píng)估,得出黃嘉德的譯本更接近譯者的寫(xiě)作風(fēng)格這一結(jié)論。 第五章是全文的結(jié)論。 通過(guò)兩個(gè)譯本的比較,揭示了譯者的確會(huì)受到各種操控因素的影響,并在譯文中有所體現(xiàn),而通過(guò)對(duì)譯文的分析,可看出譯者行為的痕跡和傾向。如果要進(jìn)行文本和譯者行為的相互關(guān)系印證,則需要將文本因素和譯者因素結(jié)合起來(lái),將翻譯內(nèi)部因素和外部因素結(jié)合起來(lái)等,才可能全面而客觀的認(rèn)識(shí)翻譯的活動(dòng)。
