[Abstract]:Sources on 29 May 2014: the European Commission expects that legislation that will require uniform communication of information to poison centres will be implemented by 2017 or 2018. Speaking at a webinar on the Chemical observation Network at the European Union's poison centre, Roberto Scazzola of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise said that The European Commission intends to present a draft proposal at a meeting of (Caracal), the REACH and CLP regulatory authority, in November. It hopes the proposals, in the form of a new appendix to the CLP regulations, will be passed in the second half of 2015. It expects these requirements to be implemented in 2-3 years-giving poison centers and industry time to prepare for the new rules. These proposals were drawn up after consultation and are the result of section 45 of the CLP Code.
